Globalstar is a consortium of leading international telecommunications companies originally established in 1991 to provide satellite telephony services through a network of exclusive service suppliers.

Global Star has 48 low earth orbit (LEO) satellites in service for more than 100 countries and 6 continents.

Inmarsat

Inmarsat was established in 1979 to serve the maritime industry by satellite communications in developing countries and emergency management of ships and Applications, meanwhile, is currently a global satellite system used by independent service providers to offer a variety of voice and multimedia communications for customers to move or in remote locations.

Inmarsat system consists of nine satellites in geostationary orbit.

Iridium

The Iridium system, global, mobile, wireless communication system, which is scheduled for three Motorola engineers consits of subscriber mobile phones, 66 satellite constellation, the complete ground infrastructure, and all the supporting software.

Iridium system is the first commercial satellite system to include:

A large constellation in low Earth orbit

The inter-satellite links

processor board

electronic scanning antennas

Iridium system consists of a constellation of 66 LEO satellites. The system uses the L-band to provide global mobile communications handsets. Total project cost was over $ 4 billion.

Closed system recently after being unable to attract enought subscibers.The satellites will be allowed to burn in the atmosphere.
